CBSE regional level science exhibition held at GD Goenka public Karkardooma.. There were 200 exhibits from all over Delhi & 20 were selected out of these, SDPS was one of the selected exhibit.
A project made by Kashish Tayal & Arham of X B under the guidance of science teachers Ms Mukta, Ms Sonia & Ms Anamika has been selected for national level science exhibition 2015.
Detail of the Project Theme:
One of the most crucial problems affecting the world today is the scarcity of potable water. In a bid to make clean water available at low cost, materials that are easily available like apples, tomatoes and banana can be used to purify water.
This method of water purification system can benefit communities living in places where there is little electricity or resources to set up a water purification plant.
Air Conditioner condensate can be easily captured in a bucket and redirected to a nearby garden. This helps in conserving water.
E-WASTE MANAGEMENT :
Most compact discs are made up of aluminium. Aluminium is one of the most ample metal elements in the crust of the earth. Other materials like polycarbonate plastic, laquer plastic made from acrylic, gold, dyes glass and nickel also make up the compact disc. Considering that close to one billion compact discs have been manufactured and sold, that’s a certain food for thought.
Making centrifugal device using waste CD’s is a novel idea to reuse the CD’s.
PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT :
Bubble wrap was created in 1957 by engineers ,who first marketed the material as textured wallpaper. It is used for protecting fragile items during shipping.
We are using bubble wrap to store samples of blood or urine. It is a cost effective and safer substitute for glass test tubes as it provides sterile environment inside.
AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSATE:
Method followed: AS WARM AIR IS COOLED BY AN AIR CONDITIONER, HUMIDITY IN THE AIR FORMS CONDESATION. This water can be easily captured in a bucket or barrel and redistributed where it is needed. Air conditioner condensate does not contain soaps, chlorine or other chemicals that may be found in fresh water or ground water.
